June 18 Shooting Arrest

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — On June 18, 2026, at approximately 12:29 p.m., Mooresville Police Department officers responded to 142 Serviceberry Way in reference to a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim, 46, on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered aid until Mooresville Fire Department and Iredell EMS personnel arrived on the scene. The victim was subsequently transported to Carolinas Medical Center Main with serious injuries.

Mooresville Police Department detectives responded and assumed control of the investigation. The suspect was identified as Benjamin Guerrero, 36, of Saginaw, Texas. He was located at the scene and initially detained by responding officers.

Following the investigation, Guerrero was placed under arrest and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill.
